Baghdad curfew extended in security clampdown |
Iraq plans to close its borders with Iran and Syria for 72 hours in an attempt to secure the capital, the Iraqi commander in charge of Baghdad's security plan said Tuesday. Baghdad's curfew will be extended during the closures, and Iraqi forces plan to suspend civilian licenses for weapons and ammo.

Chief: Teen gunman set out to kill many |
A trench coat-clad teenager who opened fire on shoppers at a Utah mall had one thing in mind: "to kill a large number of people," Salt Lake City's police chief said. The teen likely would have killed more people had an off-duty officer not engaged him in a gunbattle, the chief added.
