I always get a bit uneasy when politicians seem to use their faith as a political weapon...whether they are Republicans or Democrats. I want men and women of faith in public life, but if they are "praying in public" to gain a political advantage I look to what Jesus warned us of:
Matthew 6:5-6: "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret...." |

Looks like the Democrat DA in Wilson County looked out for his own political kind rather than the innocent people who were put at risk by the dangerous behavior exhibited by Representative Briley. His campaign admits he doesn't have a theology degree...while he tap dances around the issue in Clintonesque fashion.
