BASEBALL VISITS THE CIRCUS.
March 17, 2005 - 18:17
I don't think I have ever seen more people living in glass houses throwing stones. Members of Congress questioned baseball stars about steroid use for hours of what was mostly grandstanding by politicians. Are the problems of drugs, including those in sports, serious? Of course. Does anybody seriously think these congressional hearings are really based on a sincere desire to deal with drugs in sports? When do the players get to question the members of Congress about ethics and morality in their own personal lives? CLICK HERE. |

REGISTRY PASSING THE BUCK?
March 17, 2005 - 18:18
Despite clear evidence of wrongdoing by Sen. John Ford, the Registry of Election Finance seems committed to doing absolutely nothing about it. What a ridiculous joke. In conducting their "investigation" the Registry failed to even review PUBLIC records! Maybe the Registry members are hoping their inaction will get them promoted to the Senate Ethics Commitee, which makes the Registry seem positively rabid in its search for the truth. CLICK HERE. |

NATIONAL TAXPAYERS UNION RANKS MEMBERS OF CONGRESS.
March 17, 2005 - 18:18
Two Tennessee Congressmen, Marsha Blackburn and Jimmy Duncan (both Republicans), received A grades from the NTU for their fiscal restraint and support for taxpayers. By comparison, Jim Cooper and Harold Ford, Jr. both received F grades. They are Democrats, of course. In the Senate, Lamar Alexander received a B+ while Bill Frist got a B. To see how other members ranked, CLICK HERE. |

SHOULD ILLEGALS COLLECT SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS?
March 17, 2005 - 18:19
Some in Congress want to bar those who work here illegally from collecting social security payments, particularly after they return to Mexico. Can a shoplifter return a stolen product for a cash payment? Of course not. Why allow illegal behavior to benefit people who we know have broken the law? Only in Washington, DC would this be a subject of serious controversy. CLICK HERE. |

ETHICS IN THE TENNESSEE LEGISLATURE? SURELY YOU JEST.
March 17, 2005 - 18:45
The biggest barrier to effective ethics legislation that will prevent legislators from selling their loyalty and votes is, of course, the legislators who must PASS ethics legislation. Now why would they want to stop the good deals they have in place for themselves? CLICK HERE. |
