SENATE REPUBLICANS BACK $14 MILLION HIDDEN TAX INCREASE.

The Republicans in the State Senate rolled over for Governor Phil Bredesen and passed a $14 million tax hike on iPod downloads. They didn't have the spine to zero out his party bunker, and now they slip a tax increase past most Tennessee voters in the final days of the legislative session. Looks like the spending disease that has infected the RINO (Republican in Name Only) class in Washington has spread to Tennessee. CLICK HERE.
Only FIVE State Senators (all Republicans) voted "no" on this tax increase. Diane Black, Jim Tracy, Mae Beavers, Paul Stanley and Jack Johnson are doing their best to beat back the RINO spending spree. They deserve our thanks!

By the way, in a $28 BILLION dollar state budget, the idea that this extra $14 million was "essential" is a total crock! Perhaps the legislators who gave away millions of dollars last year to local non-profit groups as a scheme to use of taxpayer money as campaign cash should chip in to pay the difference. |

With so many strong candidates for the title, it is really hard to single out just ONE, but Lindsay Grahamnesty is a pretty good pick for the dishonor! CLICK HERE. Larry Craig deserves dishonorable mention, and Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Arlen Sphincter are all pretty pitiful, too. Our Presidential nominee could have edged into the top spot if his buddy Lindsay wasn't in the running. |

It is ridiculous that an American President has to grovel and beg for economic mercy from the Saudi princes. CLICK HERE. The Saudis did agree to increase production by 300,000 barrels a day...not what the President wanted, but not an "absolutely not" like the media has portrayed it. The Tennessean, for example, headlines the story as "Bush Rebuffed", but the story itself notes the increase in production...on page 10 of the newspaper. Clearly, the Tennessean is simply a propaganda arm of the "hate Bush" Democratic Party. |

We have plenty of oil in the U.S. But the Democrats in Congress won't let us get to it. CLICK HERE. We need to start using food as an economic weapon, just as our competitors are using oil. The Saudis can't grow corn. It is not like they can simply start developing agriculture in the desert. The only reason we don't have enough oil is because we are not drilling for it on our own land. We can drill for our oil. They can't pick corn that won't grow. The sooner we get to our own oil, the sooner we can tell them to keep their oil while we charge them $100 for a loaf of bread! |
