YET ANOTHER FORD FAMILY MEMBER INDICTED FOR ACCEPTING BRIBES.
December 1, 2006 - 07:34
Another uncle of Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. has been arrested and charged with accepting bribes. This one is a Memphis City Councilman. The Ford's certainly keep Tennessee politics interesting, don't they? CLICK HERE.

Here are more details about the slimey way that politicians in Memphis go about their "business as usual." CLICK HERE.

WELL CONNECTED KNOXVILLE DRUG KINGPIN GETS REDUCED SENTENCE.
December 1, 2006 - 17:30
Apparently it pays to have friends in high...uhm, places. Drug dealer Scott West, who helped his brother deal tons of marijuana in Knoxville over the past several years, has been sentenced to 75 months in federal prison. He will also have to undergo rehab for his addiction to another unnamed drug. (Clearly he was not just involved in marijuana.) Many of the political and financial elites in Knoxville have come to the defense of this major drug kingpin over the last few months, including writing letters to the court asking for a light sentence for West because he helped spur some downtown Knoxville real estate development. Of course, the fact that he was rolling in illegal and tax free cash probably made it easier to fund his projects. CLICK HERE.

Ultimately, this deal will backwash on Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and we will certainly hear a lot more about this when he starts trying to make a run for statewide office. CLICK HERE.

UT STUDENTS PLAN ACLU NATIVITY SCENE.
December 1, 2006 - 07:49
Unfortunately, the UT students who have come up with the creative idea of displaying a Nativity scene that the ACLU would approve of (with Gary and Joseph instead of MARY and Joseph, for example) are at the OTHER UT, the University of Texas. Nevertheless, they should be applauded for revealing the truth about the ACLU in a humorous fashion. CLICK HERE.

HAVE SOME FUN WITH THE ACLU THIS CHRISTMAS!
December 1, 2006 - 11:15
Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of
this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to
brighten up their dark, sad, little world. Make sure it says "Merry
Christmas" on it.

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.

ACLU
125 Broad Street 18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

You might also want to send one to the Tennessee ACLU office.

ACLU-TN
P. O. Box 120160

IS SANTA A RELIGIOUS ICON?
December 1, 2006 - 10:18
Apparently some people think so. CLICK HERE.

TENNESSEAN TRACK RECORD OF INACCURACY CONTINUES.
December 1, 2006 - 09:22

The Tennessean has a new editor who has promised to change things at the newspaper. Not sure they are the changes Gannett had in mind. First he had to write a correction of an editorial that claimed John Kerry was right when he said our troops were stupid. Now in just one week the newspaper has printed two articles that seem provably false, one involving a Lipscomb professor and the other misquoting a Tennessee State Senator. Why does anybody trust ANYTHING this paper prints? CLICK HERE.

PHOENIX AIRPORT TESTING X-RAY IMAGING FOR SECURITY.
December 1, 2006 - 07:38

Will full body x-rays be the answer to airline security? Is this also a way to trim health care costs in the future? You could fly to see Grandma and determine whether your sprained ankle is actually broken all at one time. CLICK HERE.

CHURCH BELLS SILENCED IN FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA.
December 1, 2006 - 07:41
Peace and quiet apparently trumps religious freedom and tradition? CLICK HERE.

BUREAUCRATS CRACK DOWN ON HOME COOKED MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS.
December 1, 2006 - 07:53
Fairfax County, Virginia is also in the news today for passing new regulations to prevent churches and other groups from feeding the homeless home cooked meals unless the kitchen is first inspected and approved by the county. So, they are concerned that homeless guys who usually eat garbage out of dumpsters might get sick if they eat some of Aunt Erma's chicken pot pie? CLICK HERE.

FEDS WARN OF AL QUEDA CYBER ATTACK ON U.S. TODAY.
December 1, 2006 - 07:44

There are indications that Al Queda will launch a cyber attack against online stock trading and banking institutions today. A big part of their intentions on 9-11 was to cripple the U.S. economy by hitting the World Trade Towers. They did cause a TRILLION dollar hit to the economy, but we have rebounded in amazing fashion. They still want to kill us; they still want to cripple our economy. We are STILL at war, even if the Democrats deny it. CLICK HERE.

SOMETHING TO KEEP YOU WARM ON A COLD DAY?
December 1, 2006 - 07:35
Somebody, not me, actually compiled a list. The funniest aspect of the list are the pros and cons cited for each pick. Jessica Rabbit wins the top spot, but technically (as opposed to technocolor) I am not sure she really qualifies as a "Disney" character. I also have a problem seeing Snow White as "hot." CLICK HERE.

I USED TO THINK TERRI HATCHER LOOKED PRETTY GOOD...
December 1, 2006 - 10:59

...but she is starting to look a bit like a man in drag.

SHOULD AMERICAN TAXPAYERS PAY THE TAB TO BAILOUT THE BIG THREE AUTOMAKERS?
NO WAY, NO HOW!!!
YES, THE INDUSTRY IS MUCH TOO IMPORTANT FOR US TO LET IT FAIL.
IT DEPENDS ON THE TERMS OF THE DEAL. WHAT INTEREST RATE WILL THEY PAY FOR THE CASH? WHAT DO WE GET AS COLLATERAL?
LET'S BAILOUT TWO OF THE THREE AND LET ONE FAIL. THEY SHOULD COMPETE TO BE IN THE TOP TWO BY CUTTING COSTS AND WAGES!
YES, BECAUSE WE CAN SAVE THEM JUST LIKE WE SAVED THE BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES, ETC.
NOT SURE.
