ANOTHER BREDESEN CRONY CAUGHT UP IN QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS DEAL.
September 22, 2006 - 08:16
ECD Commissioner Matt Kisber is the latest Bredesen insider to be caught up in an ethically questionable set of circumstances. The same lobbyist who gave or loaned $35,000 to Senator Jerry Cooper also loaned $1.25 million to a buddy of then State Representative Matt Kisber, at the Rep's request. Kisber served on the Board of the company that received the loan. The company went bankrupt, and Kisber then hired his buddy to be an assistant commissioner for Economic Development. How niiiiice. Kisber says he didn't do anything wrong, but he also promised his constituents that he would oppose a state income tax, and then voted for it, so his "word" isn't exactly a gold standard. The fact that folks on Capitol Hill don't see anything wrong with this sordid arrangement is a good sign that this sort of stuff is just business as usual up there. It won't change until the powerful bosses like Naifeh and Wilder are gone.

WILL IT BE TOO LITTLE TOO LATE FOR BRYSON?
September 22, 2006 - 08:18
Although Governor Phil Bredesen has a lot of vulnerabilities, it remains to be seen if Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Bryson can exploit them. Money talks in politics, and at this point Bryson won't get over a whisper. CLICK HERE.
The good news for Bryson is that his add is apparently "accurate;" I am just not sure it can also be considered "effective". CLICK HERE.
The incumbent Governor's 64% approval rating from Tennessee voters is not going to make it any easier for Bryson to knock him off. CLICK HERE.

PLEDGE TO MEXICAN FLAG IN TEXAS SCHOOL DRAWS ATTENTION.
September 22, 2006 - 08:22
The p.c. crowd tried something new in Texas, having school kids stand for the pledge to the MEXICAN flag, and they have been backtracking ever since word got out. The Left doesn't want our children to say the pledge to the American flag, especially if the offensive words "under God" are included, but apparently don't see anything wrong with saluting the Mexican flag. CLICK HERE.

THOUSANDS OF COMPUTERS "LOST" BY THE CENSUS BUREAU.
September 22, 2006 - 08:25
Lost? Don't they mean stolen? And shouldn't the employees responsible, rather than the overburdened American taxpayer, pay for the loss? This is just another example of how so many government employees see our money and our stuff as something they can treat with reckless disregard. Make THEM pay for a change, then they will take better care of the property put into their care and custody. CLICK HERE.
Here are more details about the "missing" computers. CLICK HERE. |

BUSH CUTS DEAL WITH SENATE ON GTMO INTERROGATIONS.
September 22, 2006 - 08:47
Terrorists who are not entitled to Geneva Convention protections by the very terms of that treaty will nevertheless be treated better than they deserve under a deal the Bush Administration struck with recalcitrant U.S. Senators. It looks to me like the Bush team backtracked, but it is better than nothing...barely. CLICK HERE. |

TEACHER WHO BURNED AMERICAN FLAGS WON'T BE CHARGED.
September 22, 2006 - 14:03
Let's try to figure this one out together. If you BURN an American flag in a classroom full of children, you don't get charged with a crime. But if you put up more than three American flags in Nolensville, Tennessee you get fined?!?!?! Granted, it does seem that this teacher was trying to evoke thought rather than make a statement, but it still showed pretty poor judgement.
Be sure to read the student comments in the block to the right of the story. It seems to me that this is really a story about our horribly failed education system. The kids cannot write or spell if these brief blurbs are indicative of their academic prowess. CLICK HERE. |

TOO MANY AMERICAN FLAGS FOR SMALL TOWN IN TENNESSEE?
September 22, 2006 - 10:54
Suzi Tant Hallum had 10 American flags flying outside her business in the small town of Nolensville, Tennessee. But the City says that is too many, and they have demanded that she take down at least 7 of the flags for face a fine of $350 a day. Apparently, all the nitwits in government don't work in Washington, some of them are in local government. CLICK HERE.

TEXAS GRAND JURY REFUSES TO INDICT TEACHER WHO HAD SEX WITH STUDENT.
September 22, 2006 - 08:40
A grand jury in Texas refused to indict a 25 year old female high school teacher who had sex with an 18 year old student, despite a specific state law forbidding the activity. In Texas, the age of consent is 17, unless the relationship is between teacher and student. In this case, the grand jury decided that the age of consent trumped the more specific ban on teacher-student relations. If the teacher had been a man and the student had been a woman, do you think the result would have been different? CLICK HERE. |

September 22, 2006 - 12:15

I BET THE CRIME RATE GOES DOWN.
September 22, 2006 - 08:28
A town in Idaho has decided that a gun ban is not way to go when it comes to dealing with crime. Instead, they are considering a gun REQUIREMENT for each household. Technically, the 2d amendment guarantees a "right" to bear arms, it does not make it a requirement. But if the Lefties can twist the 1st amendment to expand it beyond recognition maybe it is time to expand the meaning of the 2d. CLICK HERE. |

EVANGELICAL BASE OF THE GOP MAY SIT THIS ONE OUT.
September 22, 2006 - 08:58
One of the main reasons that the 2006 political season is shaping up as a potential disaster for Republicans is the sense that their most dependable base vote, Evangelical Christians, seems disengaged at this point. If that does not change, and soon, then Republicans could have problems in November. CLICK HERE. |

40% OF BRITS WOULD GIVE UP SEX TO LIVE TO 100.
September 22, 2006 - 09:07
What is the point of a long life if it is completely boring? And sexless? The fact that 31% of the Brits would give up sex if they could get a telegram from the Queen may indicate that they are doing it wrong. Hopefully, an even higher percentage would choose to get a telegram from the Queen rather than get busy with her. CLICK HERE.

SHOULDN'T THE HEADLINE READ "FORMER" GOVERNOR?
September 22, 2006 - 09:12
If I was Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour I would be upset about a headline that screams that a woman is claiming to have had sex with the Governor of Mississippi. She is talking about FORMER Governor Ronnie Musgrave, not Barbour, but you wouldn't know that from the headline, would you? Sloppy or smear campaign? CLICK HERE. |

September 22, 2006 - 11:52
Barbara Streisand used to be the ultimate diva; my have things changed. She is starting to look a bit like Nick Nolte's mug shot. Keep in mind that liberals like her were absolutely scathing in their assault on Katherine Harris' looks in the post 2000 election ballot brushfires. Maybe Babs' nickname is a typo. CLICK HERE.
