BUSH APPROVAL RATING DROPS 5 POINTS THIS WEEK.
February 24, 2006 - 16:22
President Bush has a 44% approval - 54% disapproval rating according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll. On February 19, the day the ports deal story broke the President was sitting at a 49% approval - 50% disapproval rating. Only 17% of Americans think the port deal is a good one for us. And perhaps even worse for Republicans and the President, for the time a plurality of Americans trust the Democrats in Congress more than the President when it comes to handling national security. MARRIAGE AMENDMENT VOTE TO PROCEED.
February 24, 2006 - 16:22
A Davidson County judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the ACLU that sought to prevent Tennessee voters from voting on a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in the state. CLICK HERE.

DOUBLE DIPPING.
February 24, 2006 - 16:23
State Rep. Sherry Jones (D-Nashville) has announced that she is running for Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk in the August general election. At this point she also plans to run for reelection to the State Legislature, but does indicate that if she wins she may drop the legislative job "at some point." Pick a job that you want and think you can do. One job, not two. CLICK HERE.

CHRISTIANS MURDERING MUSLIMS IN NIGERIA.
February 24, 2006 - 16:23
Claiming that they want Muslims to suffer like the Christians they are murdering in northern Nigeria, Christian mobs have murdered over a hundred Muslims in the Christian dominated southern part of the country. "Yeah, that will teach them a lesson." No, it just shows that the lessons Jesus taught are being ignored by these so-called Christians. At least Christian preachers are not encouraging this behaviour from their pulpits, unlike their Muslim counterparts. Murder in the name of God, or Allah, is dispicable, and all civilized people should condemn it. CLICK HERE.

VATICAN TO MUSLIMS: PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.
February 24, 2006 - 16:24
Hmmm, I think the problem may be that they ARE practicing what their Imams preach. CLICK HERE.

CAN WE SPICE UP THE OLYMPICS?
February 24, 2006 - 16:24
Clay Travis, at CBS Sportsline, has some great new suggestions as well. For my own suggestions, Landmine Curling, Triple Luge and Handgun Super G, go to Pure Nitwittery. In the meantime, check out Clay's ideas. CLICK HERE.

ROAD TRIP!!!
February 24, 2006 - 16:25
The North Dakota National Guard is trying to promote their state by offering 10 kids (high school seniors and juniors) from each state the chance to have an all-expense trip to learn more about the 200th anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Winning essays will determine the winners, and February 28th is the deadline. So far only 30 students nationwide have entered. No word on how many are from Tennessee, but I suspect that a little time on the computer could get you a trip to ND in August. There is no excuse for Tennessee not filling all ten of our slots! CLICK HERE.

WHEN NOBODY EVER LOSES...
February 24, 2006 - 16:25
Nobody wins either. More and more sports programs are seemingly focused on making sure kids feel good about their skills rather than actually developing skills. We tend to do the same thing in our schools. But not keeping score, making sure everybody gets a trophy, and giving kids a false sense of how good they are is ultimately just delaying their recognition of the cruel reality that they may just not be as good as they have been told they are. Learning to lose, and to win, is part of learning to compete and to be successful. CLICK HERE.

SHOULD AMERICAN TAXPAYERS PAY THE TAB TO BAILOUT THE BIG THREE AUTOMAKERS?
NO WAY, NO HOW!!!
YES, THE INDUSTRY IS MUCH TOO IMPORTANT FOR US TO LET IT FAIL.
IT DEPENDS ON THE TERMS OF THE DEAL. WHAT INTEREST RATE WILL THEY PAY FOR THE CASH? WHAT DO WE GET AS COLLATERAL?
LET'S BAILOUT TWO OF THE THREE AND LET ONE FAIL. THEY SHOULD COMPETE TO BE IN THE TOP TWO BY CUTTING COSTS AND WAGES!
YES, BECAUSE WE CAN SAVE THEM JUST LIKE WE SAVED THE BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES, ETC.
NOT SURE.
