FRED PHELPS' DAUGHTER WILL HEAD SMYRNA PROTEST.
August 25, 2005 - 09:58
One of the daughters of Fred Phelps will be in Smyrna for the protest scheduled for Saturday afternoon. We talked with her Thursday morning and will re-air the interview at 6 am Friday for those who missed it. The level of hate and animosity she expresses is something that you have to hear to believe. |

WILL BRAC SPARE NASHVILLE?
August 25, 2005 - 09:59
The Pentagon recommended closing a sub base in Connecticut. Their political leadership worked to keep the base open. The BRAC recommended today that the base be kept open. Wonder by Tennessee's Senators have not joined with Tennessee's Governor to do the same thing with the Air National Guard base scheduled for effective closure in Nashville. The Governor, and Congressman Jim Cooper, are the only ones who have voiced objection. CLICK HERE. |

PUTTING IRAQ CASUALTIES IN CONTEXT.
August 25, 2005 - 09:59
The loss of 1800 American lives in Iraq over the past two years of combat is tragic, but is it the real story? The ONLY news Americans get from Iraq is the death of soldiers, but what about the progress they are making in securing freedom for the Iraqi people; what about the death toll of the terrorists; what about the strategic and tactical objectives that they achieve with the relatively minimal (by historical combat comparisons) loss of life. DOES THE FIRST AMENDMENT APPLY IN PULASKI?
August 25, 2005 - 10:00
Yesterday a jury convened to try two men accused of "disrupting" a school board meeting. They simply sought to point out that the action being taken by the school board was demonstrably illegal. The prospective jurors were asked if they listen to the Steve Gill Show. I guess they don't like the First Amendment in ANY form in Pulaski. Isn't that where the Ku Klux Klan was founded? FSU BACKS DOWN THE NCAA.
August 25, 2005 - 10:02
Florida State has successfully battled back against the NpcAA's efforts to ban their nickname. But why is it that one of the most insensitive mascots ever remains in vogue?
When asked about the Fighting Irish being acceptable while terms like "Braves" and "Warriors" are not, the NpcAA was gutless as usual:
"We have not gotten information from any group that represents Irish of (anyone of) Irish ancestry...that they believe that image is hostile and/or abusive," said Charlotte Westerhaus, NCAA vice-president for diversity and inclusion.
The folks at www.footballfansfortruth.us have compiled a pretty comprehensive list of names that apparently are not hostile or offensive to anybody. CLICK HERE.

DO DISEASED ILLEGALS COUNT AS WMD?
August 25, 2005 - 10:03
Thanks to the influx of illegal aliens, leprosy is rising...in the United States. In just the past few years we have gone from about 900 cases over the past 40 years to about 7,000 new cases. Is saving a few cents on your burger at the drive through worth this new risk? CLICK HERE. |

TIMKEN HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE.
August 25, 2005 - 10:03
There are 490 girls at Timken High School in Canton, Ohio. 65 of them are pregnant. Some community leaders say movies, tv, video games, lazy parents and lax discipline are to blame. I suspect it also has something to do with the fact that the kids are having sex. By the way, the sports teams for Timken High School are known as the Trojans. Seriously. Maybe they need to change names. CLICK HERE. |
