THE SCHIAVO DEBATE CONTINUES, BUT HERE IS A PRETTY GOOD COLUMN ON THE ISSUE.
March 26, 2005 - 14:46
Calling anybody who disagrees on the Schiavo issue either an idiot or a murderer seems to be a bit much in my view. Don Sensing seems to agree. CLICK HERE.

GLENN REYNOLDS MAY SAY IT EVEN BETTER.
March 26, 2005 - 14:46
"But I do think that process, and the Constitution, matter. Trampling the Constitution in an earnest desire to do good in high-profile cases has been a hallmark of a certain sort of liberalism, and it's the sort of thing that I thought conservatives eschewed. If I were in charge of making the decision, I might well put the tube back and turn Terri Schiavo over to her family. But I'm not, and the Florida courts are, and they seem to have done a conscientious job. Maybe they came to the right decision, and maybe they didn't. But respecting their role in the system, and not rushing to overturn all the rules because we don't like the outcome, seems to me to be part of being a member of civilized society rather than a mob. As I say, I thought conservatives knew this." - Glenn Reynolds, Instapundit.com, says exactly what I have been saying all week. CLICK HERE.

SKIP PAST THIS ONE.
March 26, 2005 - 14:47
The great thing about President Bush is that he does what he thinks is right regardless of what the polls say. Well, the polls seem to indicate that the actions he has taken in the Schiavo case are not popular among the voters as his approval rating has taken a steep decline in the past week. He may be wrong, or he may be right, in what he has done. I suspect he won't be bothered by bad polls for doing what he thinks is right. But a lot of the pandering politicians who are not quite so principled in what they do will likely be backtacking on the Schiavo case in the next week. Don't expect President Bush to do that. Agree or disagree with him, but you have to respect the fact that he says it like he sees it and puts action behind his words. That is the kind of President that history reveres. CLICK HERE.

KILLING FOR LIFE?
March 26, 2005 - 14:47
It has been interesting to note the hateful rhetoric and death threats that the extreme Christian right has displayed in connection with the Schiavo case. The FBI is investigating a "hit" put out on Schiavo and the judge from a man in North Carolina. Yeah, let's kill MICHAEL Schiavo and Judge Greer because we believe life is sacred. Granted, not everyone who thinks Terri Schiavo should have her feeding tube reinserted is in line with these nut cases, but the extremists who want to "kill for life" are all on one side of this issue. Muslims don't have the franchise on nutcase fundamentalists who see death and hate as a way to reflect the love and goodness of their religion. CLICK HERE.

THOMAS SOWELL TAKES THE TERRI SCHIAVO SIDE.
March 26, 2005 - 14:48
He does note, as I have said as well, that both sides in this debate regularly cite "certainties" to support their case; "certainties" that are contradicted by the "certainties" the other side relies on. CLICK HERE.

SHOULD AMERICAN TAXPAYERS PAY THE TAB TO BAILOUT THE BIG THREE AUTOMAKERS?
NO WAY, NO HOW!!!
YES, THE INDUSTRY IS MUCH TOO IMPORTANT FOR US TO LET IT FAIL.
IT DEPENDS ON THE TERMS OF THE DEAL. WHAT INTEREST RATE WILL THEY PAY FOR THE CASH? WHAT DO WE GET AS COLLATERAL?
LET'S BAILOUT TWO OF THE THREE AND LET ONE FAIL. THEY SHOULD COMPETE TO BE IN THE TOP TWO BY CUTTING COSTS AND WAGES!
YES, BECAUSE WE CAN SAVE THEM JUST LIKE WE SAVED THE BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES, ETC.
NOT SURE.
