VANDY CHANCELLOR'S SPENDING COMES UNDER SCRUTINY.
September 27, 2006 - 09:17
The Wall Street Journal has been sniffing around Vanderbilt University for the last several months. Tuesday they finally printed the long awaited story, including the fact that the Chancellor's wife has admitted smoking pot at the University residence. No wonder the personal chef is running up such big bills for "munchies."
The Tennessean also covered the story, and as expected mainly focused on explaining away the excessive spending of the bow-tied Chancellor. Funny, the Tennessean wasn't quite so understanding when a former UT President spent a lot less. And they were not nearly as tolerant from an editorial perspective when high flying CEOs at Enron were doing the same sort of personal spending with corporate money. CLICK HERE.

SALES TAX DEDUCTION FOR TENNESSEANS IS AT RISK.
September 27, 2006 - 09:21
You would think that having a Senate Majority Leader from Tennessee might be helpful to Tennessee taxpayers, but apparently Senator Bill Frist hasn't stayed quite as focused as he should on issues that matter to Tennesseans. Perhaps he is too busy focusing on trips to Iowa and New Hampshire to realize that Tennesseans are about to be punished with a BILLION dollar hit to our tax forms. Frist says it is the fault of the Democrat minority in the Senate. If he can't run the Senate, does he really think people will support the idea of him running the country? Folks are likely to remember this in 2008, which is not good for a Frist for President candidacy. CLICK HERE. |

ANOTHER FRIST FAILURE?
September 27, 2006 - 09:29
Senator Frist is also apparently poised to let another legislative measure die despite the fact that about 80% of the public supports it. Legislation requiring parental notication before a child can obtain an abortion will likely pass by a clear margin in the Senate...if Senator Frist brings it to a vote. If he doesn't, why should the pro-life community care if the Republicans or Democrats control the Senate. Apparently, the Republicans only care about the pro-life community when it comes to turning out the vote on election day, not casting votes in the U.S. Senate. CLICK HERE. |

POLICE SAY T.O. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
September 27, 2006 - 09:25
Police in Dallas report that controversial Dallas Cowboy receiver Terrell Owens was hospitalized after attempting to kill himself. If it was anybody but T.O. this sad story might evoke some sympathy around the country. Some will see it, perhaps accurately, as another grandstanding play for attention. It is a shame that this guy is so talented, and that it is all from the neck down. CLICK HERE.
T.O. says he did NOT try to kill himself. He was actually very contrite and humble during the press conference. Maybe he is actually maturing. CLICK HERE.

WHAT DID HE NOT DO, AND WHEN DIDN'T HE DO IT?
September 27, 2006 - 14:32
Richard Miniter lays out in specific detail all of the ways that President Bill Clinton DID NOT respond to Al Queda terror attacks during his terms of office. So much time, so little action. CLICK HERE. |

READ THE DECLASSIFIED PORTION OF THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE ESTIMATE.
September 27, 2006 - 09:42
Don't trust what the media tells you, read it for yourself. But before you do, you need to be aware of three important points:
ONE, the estimate was completed before February of this year. That means before chief Iraq terror leader Abu Musab Al Zarqawi was killed by U.S. forces.
TWO, the report is based on a lot of speculation and "what ifs". This sort of assessment is not black and white nor is it quantifiable.
THREE, of the four factors that the report cites as fueling the terrorist movement, none of them could be construed as an indicator that terror attacks on the West, and the U.S. in particular, would cease if the U.S. was not in Iraq. Nor is there any basis to believe that appeasement would stop the continued onslaught of this "jihad" movement. CLICK HERE.
Once you read the actual report, it becomes abundantly clear that the mainstream media selectively twisted the assesment to meet its perverse anti-Bush (even if it means being pro terrorist) propaganda agenda. CLICK HERE. |

NYC CALLING IN THE FOOD POLICE.
September 27, 2006 - 09:57
First they tell smokers to get out of town, now they are telling people to quit eating food the Liberal food cops don't like. Where will this end? Isn't it interesting that the same Liberals who claim they want to keep the government OUT of our bedrooms want the government to get INTO our refrigerators? CLICK HERE. |

THE AL QUEDA VERSION OF THE NIE SHOWS THEY THINK THEY ARE LOSING.
September 27, 2006 - 10:00
Perhaps the Al Queda folks need to read the NIE and the latest talking points from the DNC so they will get a boost of encouragement. Apparently, they think they are losing in Iraq. CLICK HERE. |

"OPERATION WETBACK" IS NOT AN URBAN LEGEND.
September 27, 2006 - 11:57
I recently received an email detailing a program in 1954 called "Operation Wetback" which resulted in about a million illegal Mexicans being deported or voluntarily returning to their home country under threat of deportation. My first reaction was that this had to be an urban legend. But after checking on snopes.com, and then doing further research it appears that the email is actually true. (Can you imagine a federal program being called "Operation Wetback" in the current p.c. environment?) In any event, here is some historical perspective from the University of Texas. CLICK HERE.
We can come up with a new name, but isn't it time to return to this policy? |

7-11 DROPPING CITGO AS ITS SOURCE OF GASOLINE.
September 27, 2006 - 13:53
Citgo will no longer be providing gasoline to approximately 2,100 7-11 stores in the United States. The company has decided to get its fuel elsewhere rather than continue to support the Venezuelan owned gasoline company. Terrorist-thug wannabe Hugo Chavez is effectively the CEO of Citgo. Now Citgo is saying that Chavez' comments are not the reason they dropped Citgo. CLICK HERE.

REPUBLICANS PICK TWIN CITIES FOR PRESIDENTIAL CONVENTION.
September 27, 2006 - 13:56
Minnesota has long been a bastion of Democrat Party success, but Republican have been making it more and more competitive in recent years. Now they have selected Minneapolis-St. Paul as the site of the 2008 Republican Convention. Presumably, the idea is that if more people in that state get to know Republicans they will like them. Maybe. CLICK HERE. |
