The Gill Team had a chance to visit the U.S. Naval Facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on Thursday, including the terrorist detention center that houses about 400 of the terrorists that have plotted, and in some cases acted, to kill Americans. Jim Bryson and Governor Phil Bredesen are at odds over the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Tennessee, which is on the ballot for approval by Tennessee voters in November. Bryson is for it, and has taken the Governor to task for failing to sign the bill that authorized Tennessee voters to weigh in on the issue. The Governor points out that there is not a requirement for him to approve or sign legislation setting a constitutional amendment vote. Bryson says other governors have signed such legislation in the past. Bredesen says he doesn't think that we need a constitutional amendment on this issue, but will vote for it anyway. Doesn't it seem strange for him to support something he opposes? And does he really think that state law banning gay marriage is enough when we have seen judges in other states, like his past home Massachusetts, overturn such laws without the voters having a chance to speak out? Like the Governor's claimed opposition to an income tax, he is weak, very weak, on this issue. CLICK HERE.
