Obviously, nobody in their right mind would walk into any group of innocent people and start blasting away with a shotgun. But the portrayal of the Universalist Unitarian gathering as any sort of "Christian" group is wildly inaccurate. They are essentially the church of the "whatever". Believe whatever you want in developing your own personal theology. I am not making this up. Read more about the "group" from their own website. CLICK HERE. And read their understanding of "God." "EXTREME MAKEOVER" HOUSE SET FOR FORECLOSURE!!

This news story claims that the foreclosure of a $450,000 home that a family received as part of the "Extreme Makeover" series is the "latest victim of the foreclosure crisis." CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ORIGINAL EPISODE. But the family got the home MORTGAGE FREE! They didn't default on their house payments, because they had NO HOUSE PAYMENTS! Their neighbors not only provided a free home, but also raised $250,000 more for scholarships for the kids and a home maintenance fund! So why is the home being foreclosed? The parents used the house as collateral to get a huge loan to start a construction business, which has apparently failed. Now they are losing their business...and their house. CLICK HERE.
It is a sad ending, or at least middle, to what had been a happy, feel good story for ABC. But poor people are usually poor for a reason. Generally they have made, and continue to make, poor decisions. Getting pregnant at 16, or getting someone pregnant at 16. Not waiting until marriage to have children. Quitting school. Committing crimes. Not working hard. Poverty usually includes one or all of those key elements...regardless of race. Giving poor people a house, whether it is through Habitat for Humanity, government housing or a television program will usually follow the "something for nothing" equation: give somebody something for nothing and that is how much value they will apply to it. It is sad but true. Sometimes there are people who can rise above the cards they have been dealt, and dealt themselves, thanks to the help of their neighbors. But that is the exception rather than the rule.
