RUDY AIMING FOR THE WHITE HOUSE?
November 4, 2004 - 13:21
The election has ended and the next one has started. Rudy Guiliani is being touted for the Republican nomination in 2008, although every exit poll shows that the issues that won for Bush are the issues that Rudy opposes...banning gay marriage, restricting abortion, gun rights, etc. Rudy is certainly not the philosophical heir to the Bush Administration, and probably cannot win the primary. http://www.newsday.com/news/local/newyork/nyc-rudy1104,0,4278294.story?coll=ny-nynews-headlines |

BUSH OUTLINED AGENDA FOR A SECOND TERM AT PRESS CONFERENCE.
November 4, 2004 - 13:25
President Bush has wasted no time moving to planning for a second term. Several cabinet officers are expected to depart, such as AG Ashcroft and Secretary of State Colin Powell, opening up opportunities for new faces and fresh ideas. Social Security reform will apparently be one of the first things on the agenda. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/11/04/politics1132EST0515.DTL |

WINNERS AND LOSERS IN TUESDAY'S ELECTION.
November 4, 2004 - 13:29
There were a number of big losers in the election. Here is a breakdown. LOSERS:
Governor Phil Bredesen. Governor Bredesen launched a vicious assault on several Republican candidates who ended up victorious, most notably Sen. Diane Black, Sen. Jim Tracy, Rep. Judd Matheny and Rep. Curtis Johnson. The Governor now has to deal with a State Senate that has a Republican majority that will be looking for some payback. The Governor picked a fight and lost, he will get a cold shoulder for a while...at least.
Ex-Sen. Tom Daschle. South Dakota woke up and booted Tom Daschle. The obstructionist in chief is gone. The next minority leader, most likely Sen. Reid from Nevada, will likely learn from the lesson of Daschle. A red-state Democrat has to be very careful in heading too far to the left.
Liberals. Despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars over the past few years to attack President Bush, W is STILL the President. 11 states voted on amendments to ban gay marriage; the amendments prevailed in ALL 11 states by huge margins. Republicans gained 4 more U.S. Senate seats and now have a 55-44-1 majority, more than enough to confirm conservative federal judges and the three Supreme Court justices that Bush will likely appoint over the next four years. The country moved right, again.
Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden told us to vote for Kerry. We didn't. Bush is still President and he will continue to attack and kill the terrorists despite the reluctance of the U.N. and their lackeys.
The U.N and France. W is STILL the President. Deal with it.
Pro-Income tax crowd. Tommy Head, the remainder of the sponsorship of the Head-Rochelle income tax, is gone. Of the 11 Republicans who voted for an income tax, all but ONE are now gone (Steve McDaniel remains). Most candidates on both sides SAID they were against the income tax. With Republicans in control of the State Senate, and only 4 seats from controlling the House, the income tax is closer to dead than ever.
