CORKER MOVES LEFT BEFORE HE EVEN GETS SWORN IN.
December 6, 2006 - 15:50
UPDATE: Corker transition team is denying that he has joined the group. They say the first he ever even heard of this group is when the Roll Call story came out. The Executive Director now says that the PAC gave Corker money, but that he has not joined the group. Senator Elect Corker is scheduled to join us Thursday morning to set the record straight.
Conservatives in Tennessee who didn't buy Bob Corker's claim to be a "true blue" conservative (should that be "true red"?) will be distressed to learn that he is already following in the footsteps of Lincoln Chafee. Here is a link that details the membership in the Main Street Partnership, which Roll Call claims Corker has joined. When you join a group that includes Susan Collins, Olympia Snow, Arlen Specter and Lincoln Chafee that should be a pretty good clue that the organization is NOT one that is of a "conservative" bent. CLICK HERE.
Shouldn't Corker at least wait until he gets sworn in before he heads hard Left? This is the sort of thing that is likely to get Lamar Alexander a conservative primary opponent in 2008. The article from Roll Call is not available online without a subscription, but Tennesseans need to know about this. We have invited Corker to appear on the show Thursday morning to talk about this!
ROLL CALL, December 6, 2006 CLUB FOR GROWTH, SCHWARZ STILL AT IT While it continues to do battle with the conservative Club for Growth, the Republican Main Street Partnership's membership took a severe bruising in the midterm elections. Combined with retirements, the centrist group will find itself short a significant number of members in the 110th Congress.
First formed in 1994 as a place for moderate Republicans to converge to talk policy, it has grown to boast 49 House Members, eight Senators and five governors.
The group, which is organized as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, also has a political action committee that boosts the re-election of its members and helps like-minded candidates.
Much of the Republican blood-letting in the Nov. 7 elections occurred in the Northeast and Midwest, two regions that provide the majority of the group's membership.
Come January, the group will have 11 fewer Congressmen, two fewer governors and one less Senator.
One of its founding members, Rep. Nancy Johnson (Conn.), lost her bid for a 13th term. Another key member, Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (N.Y.), is retiring at the end of the year, while Rep. Charles Bass (N.H.), another top moderate in the House, also was not re-elected.
Rep. Amo Houghton (N.Y.), another founder of the group, retired at the end of 2004.
"We're sad for ourselves and the whole Republican Party," said Sarah Chamberlain Resnick, the group's executive director. "We've never been in the minority before." Resnick is hopeful, however, that her party's minority status will elevate the stature of GOP moderates.
"Moderate Republicans are the ones that Democrats are going to be reaching out to," she said. "Only time will tell, but the handwriting on the wall says moderates are going to be quite influential."
Since the elections, two newly elected Members have declared their intention to join Main Street. Sen.-elect Bob Corker (Tenn.) and Rep.-elect Dean Heller (Nev.) will come on board once they are sworn in, Resnick said. Corker will be one of the Senate's few Main Street members, replacing Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), who lost his seat in November after a brutal September primary fight.

ARE THE DEMS HAVING SECRET MEETINGS WITH TERRORISTS?!?!?!
December 6, 2006 - 15:54
The Republicans need to demand an immediate and public investigation of the claims made in the Jerusalem Post today. If the Democrat Party is meeting secretly with terrorist organizations, America needs to know. CLICK HERE. |

HISPANICS RESPONSIBLE FOR 17% OF NASHVILLE'S FATAL CAR WRECKS.
December 6, 2006 - 07:39
The Hispanic population in Nashville is about 7% of the total population; but that population caused about 17% of the fatal traffic accidents in the city, and most were a result of drunk driving. CLICK HERE.
And did you know that 1 in 7 Mexican workers have left Mexico and come to the U.S.? About 10% of the Mexican popultion has LEFT to come here, mostly illegally. Can we handle the next 10% that will flood in after it becomes clear that we are granting amnesty? All Hispanics in this country are NOT illegal; but a huge number, probably about 18 million ARE ILLEGAL. And those who are here legally, including people who have been here for generations as American citizens, should do more to speak out about the illegal behavior of their fellow Hispanics rather than enabling them. DID OPHELIA FORD FILE A FRAUDULENT CAMPAIGN REPORT?
December 6, 2006 - 08:40
Opehlia Ford may have filed a false and fraudulent campaign financial disclosure. Her report apparently included a claim that she had received a $1000 donation from Team GOP. But the lawyer and chairman of the group says no such donation was made and that this may be an attempt by Ford to laundry the fund donated by someone else by covering up the name of the actual donor. Jeff Ward has asked for an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. THE TBI?!?!?!? Sorry, I am laughing too hard to type now. CLICK HERE. |

ARE MUSLIM WOMEN DEMANDING SPECIAL TREATMENT IN AMERICA.
December 6, 2006 - 08:41
Muslim women don't want men to see them workout, so they are demanding that U.S. workout facilities accomodate them. They don't want teenage boys to see their daughters play basketball, so they are demanding that men be excluded from watching games. When will it end? When we convert...or die? CLICK HERE.
And what about the sudden demand for public prayer time in public places by these allegedly "modest" Muslim women? Like in the midst of workout equipment. Looks like a play for more political correctness and publicity rather than a humble exhortation to God. CLICK HERE.
And if the "72 virgins" look like this, why is anybody killing themselves?

December 6, 2006 - 16:19
Jerry Springer is hanging up on his career as a radio talk show host to "pursue other opportunities." His national syndication peaked at 53 markets, and was down to 24 when he sacked the bats. As a talk show host, he was one a heck of a dancer. CLICK HERE.

ANOTHER RACIAL DOUBLE STANDARD AFTER AN ATHLETE SPEAKS HIS MIND.
December 6, 2006 - 09:01
Last week we talked about the lack of controversy, and more importantly the absence of a firing, when ESPN sports commentator Michael Irvin made a comment about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo having some black blood in him, since he was performing so well. White sports commentators have been fired for much, much less. Now we hear from Larry Johnson, running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, about how he likes playing for black coaches because they understand black guys better. Will he get the John Rocker treatment? Don't bet on it. CLICK HERE.

WILL THE DEAD GUY GET TO UPGRADE HIS FREQUENT FLYER MILES?
December 6, 2006 - 07:42
A man died from a heart attack suffered about three hours into the flight in the Business Class on a British Airways flight to the U.S. His body was then moved to First Class for the remainder of the flight, much to the consternation of many who were seated in the First Class area. Two questions: Did he get upgraded miles for traveling in First Class? and, Why did they leave his distraught wife back in Business Class? She was the one needing the better champagne and liquor at that point, wasn't she? CLICK HERE. |

SHOULD WE TAKE TO THE STREETS AND RIOT?
December 6, 2006 - 07:49
Two Muslim boys at an Islamic school in Australia spit and urinated on the Bible. If this had happened at a Catholic school and the target had been the Koran, Muslims around the world would be killing, rioting and burning things up today. Should Christians take to the streets today? CLICK HERE. |

LESSONS OF HISTORY SHOULD CAUSE US TO REJECT THE BAKER PLAN.

IS THE NEW HOUSE INTEL CHAIRMAN FOR SALE?
December 6, 2006 - 09:20
Maybe he is just for rent. Democrat Congressman Silvestre Reyes has been selected by new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Chair the critical House Intelligence Committee. This guy voted AGAINST the 700 mile fence on the Mexican border because he prefers a virtual fence that is based upon video surveillance. Interestingly, his daughter works for a firm that provides that exact service under a government contract. What a coincidence. CLICK HERE. |
