January 31, 2005 - 10:58 While the local version of Al Jazeera bemoans the march of freedom in Iraq, others recognize that what happened in Iraq is actually more significant than the celebrations that took place when the Berlin Wall finally came down. Those celebrating by bashing the Wall with sledge hammers were not risking their lives; communism had already failed by that time. The Iraqis who dipped their finger in purple ink and cast their votes were risking their lives for the cause of freedom and democracy. God bless them.
