WKRN TARGETS NAIFEH-SADAAM COMPARISON.
April 30, 2005 - 08:00 WKRN SAYS COMPARISON OF NAIFEH AND SADAAM HUSSEIN WAS TOO MUCH. House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh was apparently upset about my comparing him to Sadaam Hussein during Thursday's show. Brave young men and women are defending our freedoms and giving the Iraqi people a shot at democracy half a world away while petty politicians like Jimmy Naifeh wield power in a tyrannical way that is reminiscent of the reign of Sadaam Hussein in Baghdad. Raw power exercised to benefit the powerful rather than following the rules and standards of a democratic system? Check. Silencing those who would object by the use of threats and intimidation? Check. Narcissistic self importance and a willingness to ignore the law when it is inconvenient? Check. Keeping lackeys and yes-men (and women) close by to constantly reaffirm the wisdom and greatness of their beloved leader? Check. Using power to attain great personal wealth and luxury? Check. Paranoid fears that someone may try to remove him from power? Check. Shall I go on????? I have not seen the Channel 2, story, but I am guessing that the House Speaker saw the linkage as some slur about his ethnicity (I think he is of Lebanese descent).
