SLIMEY DOINGS EXPOSED IN THE LEGISLATURE.
May 31, 2006 - 09:18
It's no wonder Democrats in the legislature were not offended by the vote scandal in Memphis last year, when voters cast votes outside their own districts and even after they were dead. In the House, that is pretty much how they vote under the leadership of tinhorn dictator Jimmy Naifeh. Even Boss Hogg tried to look honest, in public. CLICK HERE.
By the way, RINO Rep. Charles Sargent of Williamson County (who apparently really likes to make Naifeh happy) led the amendment to raise legislative pensions. CLICK HERE. |

CONNECTICUT CLAMPS DOWN ON FOOTBALL MARGINS.
May 31, 2006 - 09:19
Connecticut high school football teams who outscore their opponents by more than 50 points will earn their coach a suspension under a new rule imposed by the state athletic association. The desire to impose a "good sportsmanship" rule is a good one; but the means are pretty silly. A backup cornerback who intercepts a pass late in the game can't score? There will always be jerks in sports, but limiting the scores is not the answer. CLICK HERE. |

MEMPHIS RADIO STATION RUNS DISCLAIMERS TO CORKER ADS.
May 31, 2006 - 09:19
A lot of politicians play fast and loose with the facts with their campaign commercials on television and radio. Now a Memphis Christian radio station is actually airing a disclaimer to the ads being purchased on their station by Bob Corker. This might be a good trend, if the disclaimers are more accurate than the ads. One of the major problems in political adversitising is the fact that you can lie in political commercials while you cannot do the same thing when you advertise products. Shouldn't the same truth in advertising rules apply to politics? If I can't lie about toilet paper when I am selling it, why should I be able to lie about my opponent or my own record when I am selling my political candidacy? But beware, the mainstream media has not been particularly fair in the past, and I doubt that any disclaimers they issue would be any better than their coverage.
Frankly, I prefer to have the candidates on the show to set the record straight themselves; that's why we have issued an invitation to all three Republican Senate candidates for a June 6 debate on Steve Gill Mornings from 7-9 am. The primary focus of the discussion will be taxes and tax reform policy. Van Hilleary and Ed Bryant have already accepted the invitation and will appear; Bob Corker is still deciding whether or not to attend. CLICK HERE.

IS THE BLACK BASE SLIPPING FROM THE DEMS?
May 31, 2006 - 09:20
While many pundits are talking about the likelihood that Democrats will take control of the U.S. House and possibly Senate this fall, some note that there are some fault lines appearing in the Democrats' most crucial base of support that could spell doom for their plans. CLICK HERE. |

STUDENT SUSPENDED FOR SHARING GUM AT SCHOOL.
May 31, 2006 - 09:25
No, you read it right. It is "gum" not "gun." The gum was "Jolt", sold as an energy boosting gum. It contains caffeine. The middle schooler who shared it was suspended for three days for distributing a "stimulant" at school. CLICK HERE. |
