World Briefing | Africa: South Africa: Party Gears Up for Showdown
Some 4,000 delegates of the African National Congress are descending on Polokwane in northern Limpopo Province for a five-day conference that starts Sunday, to decide whether President Thabo Mbeki will remain leader of the party of Nelson Mandela or whether the job should go to Jacob Zuma, the man he fired as deputy president.
