The British markets regulator told a financial court that Philippe Jabre, the former director of the hedge fund GLG Partners, should be banned from trading on Britain’s financial markets because of allegations of insider trading. The Financial Services Authority sought the additional penalty from the Financial Services and Markets Tribunal at a hearing. Mr. Jabre, 46, is already contesting a record fine of £750,000 ($1.4 million) levied by the authority in March. The agency says Mr. Jabre traded on a 2003 Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group securities sale using confidential information provided to him by a Goldman Sachs Group salesman. Mr. Jabre denies wrongdoing; Goldman Sachs is not accused of wrongdoing in the case...
