Ayatollah reaches peace deal with al-Sadr
The interim government of Iraq has accepted "with open arms" a peace agreement reached today between the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, said Kasim Daoud, minister of state for military affairs. The grand ayatollah's spokesman said the men have agreed on several points, among them: multinational forces are to leave Najaf and nearby Kufa. "Muqtada al-Sadr is free to go anywhere he likes. He is as free as any Iraqi citizen," Daoud said...
