Book the same seat on British Air from Kennedy International Airport and eight other East Coast airports by Jan. 2, for travel through the end of February, and the round-trip fare is $2,798. Round-trip fares from Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Detroit are $3,198, and from Los Angeles, Denver, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle, the fare is $3,798. Air travel specialists see the fare sales as an aggressive ploy by British Air to deflect competition from all-business-class upstarts like Eos and MAXJet, which undercut standard business-class fares. The airline is also seeking to compete against domestic carriers, who have been adding capacity on the lucrative trans-Atlantic routes, where fare sales are expected this winter...
