Nortel Networks, the maker of telephone equipment, won the approval of two United States judges for cash and stock settlements valued at about $2.4 billion to resolve accounting fraud lawsuits. The two judges, Richard Berman and Loretta Preska of United States District Court in New York, endorsed class-action agreements that Nortel reached in New York with investors. Nortel agreed on Feb. 8 to pay $575 million in cash, with the balance in company shares and insurance proceeds.
