The military contractor BAE Systems said it had agreed to buy Armor Holdings, a maker of armored vehicles for the United States military, for $4.1 billion. BAE Systems, based in London, is making its purchase through its American subsidiary of the same name. The company agreed to pay $88 a share for Armor Holdings, a 7 percent premium over its closing price Friday. BAE is also assuming $388 million in debt. Stock in Armor Holdings, which is based in Jacksonville, Fla., rose $4.45, or 5.4 percent, to $86.60 a share.
