Officials say the hostage crisis in a Russian school is over, but a worst-case aftermath is emerging. The Interfax news agency, quoting Russian health officials, said more than 200 people, many of them children, had died.

There are many fatalities in the hostage crisis at a southern Russian school, an official said today. The official said 60 bodies have been identified. Some children still are being held hostage and a gunbattle continues at the school, the official said.
