U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel today ahead of an Israeli-Palestinian summit later this week. Rice is meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and on Monday with newly elected Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Iraqi security forces arrested a former general in Saddam Hussein's military whom they accuse of financing insurgents, the country's interim government said Sunday. A roadside bomb north of Baghdad killed a U.S. soldier and wounded two others Sunday, the U.S. military said.
