RACIALLY OFFENSIVE STATEMENTS OFTEN GET A PASS.

July 1, 2007 - July 8, 2007
Just a few short months ago there was collective outrage over the “racist” and “sexist” comments of radio and television talk host Don Imus. He was forced from his radio perch after he referred to the predominantly black Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy headed hos.” The comment was both stupid and inaccurate, but it was typical of the outrageous comments that Imus has made over the years.

He apologized profusely, both on air and to the girls themselves, but that did not save his job. The fact that the girls themselves probably had music on their iPods that referred to black women in much more derogatory terms than the comments Imus made did not diminish the demand for Imus’ head. The fact that Imus himself did not put the term “ho” into common street usage among the black community did not dissuade race hustlers like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton from jumping into the fray. When advertisers began pulling their commercials out of fear of a black backlash, Imus was done.

Last week another high profile talk host made an equally outrageously racist comment when he noted that black people are too emotional to be expected to follow rules or to behave themselves. But there has been little outrage, and absolutely no call for him to be fired. Apparently, it is not the words themselves that determine whether something is racially offensive, it is the identity of the speaker of the words.

Tavis Smiley is a liberal black radio commentator. He did a talk show on taxpayer funded NPR until 2004 and more recently has hosted a late night television talk show on taxpayer funded PBS. He was the moderator of a televised debate of the Democrat Presidential candidates last week at the predominantly black college campus of Howard University. Most of those in attendance were black. Contrary to the rules of the debate, the audience frequently erupted in applause and cheers during the course of the evening. Smiley made no attempt to quiet the crowd or to enforce the rules with respect to audience participation.

The next day, Brian Lamb of C-Span asked Smiley why he did not enforce the rules and keep the crowd from being so vocal in their support of some of the candidates and the responses they gave to his questions. Smiley responded that blacks are too “emotional” to obey a rule limiting applause or outbursts. “Because black people are an emotional people. I know it wouldn't have worked," Smiley noted in explaining why he did not admonish the crowd like other moderators have done in the past. So we can’t expect black folks to follow the rules of proper behavior because “they just can’t help themselves?”

If a white conservative talk host had made such a statement you can bet that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and probably Tavis Smiley himself would be screaming for their head. But the collective response to Smiley’s comments has been…silence. Complete silence. Perhaps if Imus had made a more overtly racist comment, like Smiley did, he would still have his job – as long as he also happened to be black. Just remember this tolerance for Tavis the next time you hear the hypocrites who demonized Imus screaming in outrage over a “racist” comment from their next carefully selected target.

WHY THE DEMAND FOR UNTRACEABLE CELL PHONES? - June 24, 2007 - June 30, 2007
Recently there has been an inexplicable rush on untraceable, disposable cell phones by young Muslim men here in the United States. The continued surge in the purchase of these phones -- the kind that can be used and easily discarded to avoid wiretaps; the kind that are used to detonate bombs – deserves a lot more attention.

A few months ago two men were arrested in Ohio and charged with money laundering in support of terrorism. The two men, Osama Sabhi Abdulhassan and Ali Houssaiky, we...
AMNESTY DETAILS START TO EMERGE. - May 20, 2007 - May 27, 2007
The details of the secret “deal” constructed by the Bush Administration, Ted Kennedy and John McCain that will grant amnesty and immediate legal status to millions of illegals currently are slowly starting to emerge. And as usual, the details are proving devilish.

We have been told that there are 12 million illegal aliens in the country. Some estimates put the number much, much higher, closer to 20 million. The new Z-visa that is at the center of the amnesty plan does not put a cap on...
LEGISLATIVE LUNACY HITS NEW LOW IN MICHIGAN. - April 8, 2007 - April 15, 2007
Maybe it is a disease they contract when they are first sworn into office. Or, perhaps it is a virus that is spread from continuous close contact with lobbyists. Regardless of how they “get it”, it seems that legislators cannot seem to avoid being infected with an uncontrollable affinity for spending taxpayer money (even when the state’s coffers are empty) and engaging in seemingly endless debate about inane topics.

Tennessee legislators are definitely not immune. In the current session...
LAWSUIT PUTS ALL OF US AT GREATER RISK OF TERROR. - April 1, 2007 - April 8, 2007
Since the horrific events of 9-11 travel through airports has become a complicated security maze. We take off our shoes and belts, empty our pockets, and patiently (usually) tolerate intrusive scrutiny that would have been unimaginable just a few short years ago. We are told that we should be aware of our surroundings and immediately report suspicious activity or unattended bags or packages to the authorities. Because of these precautions potential terror attacks have been avoided and lives have...
WHY IRISH EYES ARE SMILING. - March 20, 2007 - March 27, 2007
Expert estimates of the total number of illegal aliens currently in the U.S. range from 12 to 18 million. They share one thing in common: they are ALL criminals -- every single one of them.

Most entered the country illegally; others came legally but overstayed visas and became illegal when they chose not to depart as promised. Virtually all are WORKING here illegally, though some illegally live off of our generous welfare system. Many commit additional crimes while here, ranging from f...
