NANCY PELOSI IS A REAL GAS!
September 18, 2008 -
September 24, 2008
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has recently developed a serious interest in natural gas, even though it is clear she is clueless about it. Never has someone with so little knowledge of an industry been poised to make so much money from it…at least since Hillary Clinton made a fortune from a one-time entry into the cattle futures market.
Pelosi’s personal involvement in the natural gas industry, other than as a recipient of contributions from donors and lobbyists acting on behalf of the industry, began on May 27, 2007. On that date that her husband Paul purchased between $50,000 to $100,000 in stock in Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (CLNE), according to her congressional financial disclosure form.
The purchase of the shares in the company were made on the first day that the stock became publicly traded and the stock has increased in value from the initial offering price of $12 per share to $17.34 per share as of the closing bell on September 18, 2008. Not a bad return on investment, though well short of Hillary’s cattle future success. Earlier this month it was trading at $20 per share and may rebound as the economic chaos in the market subsides.
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. markets compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas fur use as a fuel for motor vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The company was founded in 1997 and was known as Pickens Fuel Company until the name was changed and the company was taken public.
The reason the company was called Pickens Fuel Company was because one of the founders is T. Boone Pickens, the same guy who has been spending millions of dollars on television commercials telling America that we need to pursue other sources of energy and fuel other than oil.
Most people thought he was acting in a selfless and patriotic way by developing his “Pickens Plan.” Actually he is motivated by pure profit…huge profits! His initial ads claimed that “we can’t drill our way to prosperity” as he pointed America in a direction other than oil, despite the fact that Mr. Pickens himself drilled his way to prosperity as an oil billionaire. Now he has invested heavily in natural gas and wind turbines and he is expecting politicians like Nancy Pelosi to force tax money in his direction.
The company is a major backer of a state initiative on the California ballot in November that would require the state to float a $5 billion bond offering, most of which would go to subsidize consumer purchase of high-mileage and "alternative" fuel vehicles. Clean Energy Fuels provided nearly all of the $3.2 million in donations reported through mid year that were being used by the group promoting the initiative. Opponents of the measure call it a boondoggle that will put huge profits into Pickens’, and Pelosi’s, pockets at great expense to California taxpayers and they point out that consumers are already buying the vehicles without taxpayers having to foot the bill.
Pelosi herself recently appeared on “Meet the Press” and explained her investment in Pickens’ company as reflective of her belief in “natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels.” Of course, natural gas is not an alternative to fossil fuels, it IS a fossil fuel. And you get it by drilling. Usually in the exact same places that you find oil.
America’s energy independence will require us to pursue a lot of different avenues, but relying on corrupt, self-serving politicians and deceptive businessmen who plan to get rich on the back of American taxpayers is certainly not the answer.

OBAMA MILITARY STORY HAS A HUGE HOLE IN IT! -
September 8, 2008 -
September 14, 2008
During a weekend interview on ABC’s “This Week” with host George Stephanopoulos Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama noted that he once considered joining the U.S. military. His decision not to pursue service in the military has never been mentioned by Obama on the campaign trail nor was it included in either of his two memoirs.
But when asked about whether or not he ever thought about serving in uniform Obama replied: “"You know, I actually did. I had to sign up for Selective Ser... |

PALIN PICK CHANGES THE POLITICAL DYNAMIC. -
September 3, 2008 -
September 10, 2008
Two straight weeks of intensive political coverage focused on the staged politics of party conventions give way to a sixty day sprint to Election Day. Republicans and Democrats have each had their time in the spotlight but when the smoke clears the race will likely be back to a dead heat. So, if the numbers are back to where they were two weeks ago has anything happened that can have an impact on this race? The answer is “yes”: Sarah Palin.
Senator John McCain’s selection of Palin as hi... |

THE FIRST AMENDMENT UNDER FIRE FROM THE LEFT. -
August 27, 2008 -
September 3, 2008
The Left has regularly decried the so-called abuses of American’s civil liberties during the Bush Administration era. For example, the ACLU has claimed that the Patriot Act "expands terrorism laws to include 'domestic terrorism' which could subject political organizations to surveillance, wiretapping, harassment, and criminal action for political advocacy." The ACLU has also asserted that the library habits of Americans could also be subject to review and government surveillance, something that... |

OBAMA SEES HIS SUPPORT SLIP DRAMATICALLY. -
August 19, 2008 -
August 26, 2008
Political campaigns are a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. The ten weeks remaining before Election Day are truly a “lifetime” where unexpected events (did anybody really forsee a Russian invasion of Georgia?) can suddenly turn the tide for either Barack Obama or John McCain. But Democrats who foresaw 2008 as a smooth ride to regaining the White House and expanding their margins in the House and Senate suddenly find themselves feeling like they are traveling down a country dirt road in a tru... |

WHERE ARE ALL THE LIBERAL ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS? -
August 14, 2008 -
August 21, 2008
A week after Russian tanks, infantry and bombers began their devastating assault on neighboring Georgia the international community is still talking about how to respond. Actions speak louder than words, and Russia’s actions are proving much more deadly than the timid words of “peace” conveyed by diplomats.
The United Nations has dithered and delayed while the civilian death toll mounts, proving international organization to be as useless as it is inept. By the time the U.N. finally get... |
